If a model can draft it in 30 seconds, was your work ever valuable?

This one hits the strongest people hardest. The answer isn't a pep talk — it's a list. Write it once and keep it.

Step 1

Work only you could have shipped

Last 90 days. It counts if it needed your context, your relationships or your judgement.

Step 2

Calls only a person in your seat could make

For each one above: what did you decide that no tool could have decided for you?

Step 3

What a model really can draft

Be honest here. Being honest is what makes the first two lists believable to you.

Where you are

Nothing written yet — start with one line in the first box.

Drafting is not deciding. Nearly every job that feels replaceable is mostly the second thing, and almost nobody writes it down until they have to.

Why writing it down works

The worry survives on vagueness. A specific list is hard to argue with, including for you.

  • Speed is not value. A model producing a draft fast says nothing about whether the draft was the right thing to produce.
  • Judgement leaves no artifact. Your best calls look like nothing afterwards, which is exactly why they need writing down.
  • The list is also your case. The same three lines work in a review, a raise conversation, or an interview next year.
